Kepak, the leading Irish food company, has launched an innovative burger partnership with Ireland’s only artisan buffalo meat producer, Macroom Buffalo Meats, based in west Cork and Ireland’s leading retailer, SuperValu.
Kepak and SuperValu developed the unique burger range partnership with Macroom Buffalo Meats, who are Ireland’s first and only herd of milking Water Buffalo. The renowned buffalo herd is owned and run by farmers Johnny and Geraldine Lynch on their family farm in Kilnamartyra near Macroom, Co Cork.
The collaboration consists of a range of succulent buffalo burgers freshly produced from the Lynch family’s herd of 200 free roaming, grass-fed Water Buffalo in west Cork.
The herd are raised according to the highest animal welfare and environmental standards along the lush green pastures of the River Toon to produce 100% Irish Buffalo meat .
As well as their flavoursome taste and tender texture, these locally produced lean Water Buffalo meat burgers have a high nutritional value and less saturated fat than regular lean beef. Buffalo meat also has high levels of vitamins and minerals and is rich in Omega 3 fatty acids, as well as gluten-free.
The new partnership underscores Kepak’s commitment to supporting local food producers and Irish family farms.
